PRIORITIZING Regular Screening

We understand that experiencing symptoms can be concerning. We’re here to support you. PSA (prostate-specific antigen) and DRE (digital rectal exam) are two initial methods used to screen for prostate cancer, but they differ in their approach and effectiveness. There are even more precise techniques, including biopsies.

First, we recommend speaking with your family doctor, if you have one. They can provide initial guidance and referrals.

If you’re having trouble getting tested for prostate cancer, we’ll do our best to connect you with organizations or other testing options within your community. These may include:

  • The Walnut Foundation — provides Black men and their families with the resources, data and support they need to live healthy fulfilling lives with or without prostate cancer.

  • MAN VAN® — Based in Alberta, is Canada’s first mobile men’s health clinic offering FREE PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) blood testing used for early detection of prostate cancer. No appointment necessary.

  • LIFELABS — Provides caring, efficient, reliable, and high-quality testing services in over 282 Patient Service Centres conveniently located in British Columbia, Ontario and Saskatchewan.
